i love the quality of my camera and the video it gets. although i don't seem to be haviing much luck outdoors which is pretty much all i film, wildlife and sports mostly. pretty much i am getting a look that is the same as any other high end prosumer camcorder which isn't the reason why i bought the 100b i am was looking for a unique look that i can't seem to get. i wanted to know if anybody has any ideas on settings or some screen grabs of some nice outdoor shots to get me on the right track.

shoo with the MAster ped up around, -1 or 0. thsi way when you iris down to counteract the sun, you dont lose as much in the shadows.

crush the blacks if you desire in post.

also, use your ND filters, and keep that iris as open as possible. the shallower DOF will help your video look a little different.

You should try some grad ND filters if you are over exposing the sky and an ultracon to help even out the contrast.

both good pointers. i actually have a question about exposure. i am trying my best to use the zebra patterns and i understand what they do but am not very good at using them. i have one set at 100 and i pretty much wait to see a couple lines then i back it down until they disapear. is this the proper way?

keep one at 80% and the other at 100%.

the brightest parts of the faces like the highlights on the cheeks and foreheadshould be at 80%. and try to keep everythign else under 100.

if the highlights are under 80 which would be the brightest part of the shot wouldn't everything else be under 80 also?

nono...

i wasnt clear. the "highlight" on the faces should be at 80%, the rest of the picture can be whatever. But properly exposed faces are the most important they should have 80% zebra on the forehead cheeks and nose. meaning the brightest part of the face should be burning at 80%. if faces are reaching 100% its over exposed.
