Out of the box failure

Anyone have this happen? My DVX arrived last week and ran a test tape thru it (63MQ). Upon playback, I get intermittant horizontal banding/pixelated breakup AND static in the L audio channel.

Luckily, I opted to buy from an authorized Panasonic dealer and it's going back. :eek:

Sounds to me like the heads are dirty. You might just try running a tape cleaner through it one time for about 10 seconds.

yes, sounds that way, but dirty after the first 30 minutes of tape? somethings wrong there.

Could be a bad tape. I'd clean the heads and try another tape before you go through the hassle of sending the camera back.

thing is, it's intermittant on playback, which would seem to indicate a playback head issue.
