(Comments would be awesome!)

Hey everyone, my twin brother Matt and I just updated our film website, please check it out and let me know what you think. A lot of our music videos were shot on the HVX and the HPX, there are a couple 35mm ones though. All the work you see was written, edited and directed by us. Also if you are on a PC use Firefox to view the site, Internet Explorer won't open it up for some reason.

Go to: www.thefackrellbrothers.com

Thanks for your time and input, hope to hear from you.

LMAO!!!!! man your commercials were hilarious! now that's some good work man. your website looks professional and cool too. i'm surprised nobody's commented on this thread yet.

do you have any BTS photos or info on your music videos? what are you editing on?

I keep getting "error on page" when I click on any of the commercials, or any of the footage.

I forgot to mention that if you are using Internet Explorer on a Mac or on a PC, you won't be able to open the files. This is Internet Explorers fault, they don't have the necessary capabilities to allow a lot of content to be seen. Use Firefox, Safari, or anything other than Explorer. Hope it works, thanks a bunch!

Thank you! It's been a lot of work trying to get everything to the point of where we're at now, I'm glad I can finally show people our site. I do have a few behind the scenes photos, go to:

In my photos section there are two albums, one is called "RED video shoot" and the other is "The Fackrell Brothers (film)" those folders have a few BTS photos.

sweet, how long did you guys spend in post for that red video shoot? where'd you get the graphics for the background? that was pretty cool.

For the RED video we spent about a week and a half in post. We shot the video in two days with a one week pre-production and as for post the label needed it finished in a week. The effects took longer than expected, so we had to ask the label to give us an additional day or two to finish. All the effects were created by a couple of really amazing guys who run bentlight digital:

Even when working with effects people you still need to direct them or else they have no idea what you are creating, They are like DP's, you let them know them what you want and how you want it done and they get it done for you, it's pretty nice. Anyway, we were really happy with how the video turned out. Thanks for the questions!

man that's tight, what all did you do in post if they did all the vfx? did you guys just cut it and sync it with the music the way you wanted it to be done and let them drop in the vfx? or did you just give them all the raw footage and told them what you wanted done?

also what budget range was that video in? i have a couple of artists that want me to shoot a video for them but they are not backed by a label and i'd love to be able to give them an idea of how much something like that would cost.

Every shot in post had to be approved by us for sure and then the label had to approve the final cut. We let VFX guys know what we wanted and then they would do it and then show us test runs. Then we would let them know if we wanted more of something, less of something, or just to take whatever it was out all together and try something new. We were very specific with the vines especially, those all had to move a certain way and at a certain speed and look the right way too. We were all up sleepless nights getting it all finished.

Oh yeah, we had given the whole video already edited, with everything already previously thought out of how we wanted the VFX to look. The edit went through a lot of passes and had to be approved by the label. When the edit was done, all the band performance was green screen and all the narrative was shot on a set, so the VFX guys had a lot of work to do.

Our budget for the video was around $40,000, but there are always short cuts to bring the price down, like finding people who will work for free is obviously the biggest part, VFX is not cheap but maybe you can find someone willing to work on your project for free too. Obviously finding a DP who has a whole camera set up that will shoot it for free too always helps too. Good luck with your project though for sure!!!

thanx man! wow that sounds pretty intense, i have a pretty nice setup already, but how much did just the post production cost?

Well, I actually edited the video free of charge because we had to put money into the post production. I would have charged $3,500 but there wouldn't have been enough money to go into VFX, so all of our post production costs went towards the VFX and our VFX guys really helped us out. I won't say what they charged us all together, but I will say that the cost should have been over $10,000 just for VFX and they gave us a good deal that won't ever happen again, lol.

When are you shooting your project?

Hopefully more people will check out our site and comment about it.
