Our first Letus Extreme Experience

we kept it simple so we could get some practice. this is with a Canon 50mm f1.4. the worst part about the adapter for me is putting it together and taking it apart. i can't wait to get a big giant case so i don't have to.

p.s. that's me as the new spokesman for Pool World.

Looked a lil "soft" but looked good overall. (i know it's first experience)
Any other thoughts about the adapter? Likes or dislikes?

I don't wanna end up bearded and addicted to coffee btw....

I shot a scene with it last night, fairly low light. I too followed the instructions that came with adapter to set focus up but did not get very good results that way.

I just talked to the guy who designed this adapter and basically he said that if the conventional way does not work, then just zoom in on your GG until it fills your frame and you cannot see vignetting (basically whereever it is you will be always zoomed to when you film) and THEN, do the adjustment (white brightly lit card, switch to automatic focus, let camera focus and then switch back to manual). Then you can shoot.

he also said to avoid having the HVXlense too wide open because this will produce a softer image, if possible keep HVX200 iris at f4 no less. (if possible)

last but not least he also said sometimes you will have to play with the camera focus a bit (manually) to really dial in the crispness of image before shooting. i did that last night and got a really sharp image that way.

Also noteworthy:

1. Keep shutter speed slower than 250 or you might see the ground glass movement

2. Keep 35mm lens fairly open or you might start to see the texture of the GG

Other than that he did not have any ground breaking tips

Hope above helps. When I get my PC back I will post my footage from last night's trial shoot

that's really good stuff. thanks, faith. i did have the HVX iris all the way open. and i'll try fillming the frame with the gg before focusing on it.
