Our AF 101 is "milky"

Anyone that has experience from this? Last weeks we have noticed how it is getting like a milky or foggy veil in front of the nice colours. Took the camera to a local service-technician. But he could only say that it is worse than many consumer cameras and that he needed to send it to Panasonic.

I have not updated any firmware the last 18 months, but the point is that we can see that the video quality has slowly deteriorated so we have not really observed the change. Is there anyone thas has experienced something similar? And what can you do by yourself?

This is probably not the answer but I thought it would be good to rule it out.

Some adaptors can cause what appears to be a foggy sheen over the footage. I had this problem with an Adaptimax adaptor and it turned out to be because a shiny surface within the adaptor was reflecting light into the lens. It was fixed by putting some matte black tape over the shiny surface.

Obviously if you are not using an adaptor then this is not going to be the problem. Does the problem occur when using different lenses?

It's hard to guess but I think Gary is onto it with a light problem. I have seen milkiness with light hitting the lens at just the right angle and the problem with the Adaptimax adapter has been documented. You can search for a solution that Shooter arrived at as well as his testing for it.

I have not experienced any "milkyness" as a result of the AF100, only types of lens and light conditions

Post a screen grab of the problem.

Thank you for your thoughts. Adapter is used and yes that has added we think. But the foggyness or rather milk-looking veil is unfortunately also visible when shooting with Voiglander 25 mm, 0,95 Nokton or 75 mm, 1,8 Olympus so no. The Adapter is not an explantion.

I wonder if my DP has black-balanced. Thanks I should have done that.

Now, we tried to use a shooting free week and took the camera to the technicians right away. I will get it back when shops are opening again after Easter. I will se and compare a bit. My DP made an nice looking short Fall 2011.. I am going to compare a bit.
one more time
Thanks for your time and thoughts.

And check the Black Pedestal, to make sure it wasn't accidentally set to some high positive value.
