Spanish bullfighter gored in the most brutal way imaginable. Gives new meaning to the agony of defeat.

This is a year or two old; this was posted here before. I believe in the prior thread, someone actually posted a second angle of it, so it seems like it may indeed be legit and not a photoshop.

This reminds me of a photo that ran in the Philadelphia Inquirer about 25 years ago. It was of a boy who had been impaled through his jaw by the sharp point on top of a wrought iron fence while attempting to scale it. The EMTs brought him to the hospital with it still attached so it could be surgically removed. The angle of penetration was quite fortunate for him, as was the curve of the bull's horn for the matador above—it appears.

No Photoshop....

The only thing that makes bullfighting tolerable for me is the fact that despite the odds being stacked against him, sometimes the bull wins. I'm sorry, I can't help it, it's not out of malice toward the bullfighters, but I always root for the bull.

To my way of thinking, Ernest Borgnine's scene in Ice Station Zebra where he talks about the bull and the steer is still one of the best bits of villain-ism in any movie I've seen. Hell, I can recite that dialog from memory, from the impression that it made...oughtta see if I can find the clip to post.

If it's that good, please do...:Drogar-Happy(DBG):

Couldn't find a clip, so...

It's a spy story about a submarine voyage to the arctic to recover a Cold War MacGuffin. Borgnine plays a Soviet agent who has just been discovered by a Marine Colonel who is himself suspected by several other characters of being the Russian who's been sabotaging their mission. The two are alone in a tractor shed at a burned-out weather station near the North pole. Borgnine is holding the Marine at gunpoint and points to an axe lying on the floor.

I want you to pick up that axe and come at me.

Why? So that you can shoot me down and tell everyone that I was the Russian agent?

Borgnine smiles.

Colonel, any number of things could happen. I could miss. My gun could jam. Who knows, perhaps you are even fast enough to kill me before I shoot you down. A bull in the ring has at least a chance to win. A steer in the slaughterhouse has no chance at all. Now, Colonel, do you want to die like a bull...or like a steer?

I'm sure I bent the wording out of shape but that's the meat of it. Without the delivery I don't know if it impresses anyone as much as it did me, because Borgnine's delivery made the scene.

Good bit of dialogue.

I've never actually seen Ice Station Zebra. I read Alistair MacLean's book years ago (35 years or so) but it's been a very long time.

I recommend it very highly. It's well-cast and well-played and yes, for sure it's dated but as a Cold War time capsule it's damned good cloak-and-dagger-military adventure.

Eventually it will be remade. Pathetic, but true.

OH MY FREAKIN EYES!!!! Why didn't I pay attention to the warning? I love blood, guts and violence... as long as I know it's not real :(
