I love this forum and check by almost everyday. I was wondering which other forums and / or communities you guys take part in? Are their similar boards to dvxuser? Or just any other nice forums?

I sometimes check Reddit's filmmakers or videography sections. Of course there's also BMCUser and Reduser which are run by the same people as DVXUser.

To be honest, this is the only filmmaking community i've been able to hang around for any period of time. Most of the communities out there on the net are just disappointing to say the least. Most of the time they either don't talk about things that are of practical use, don't have an active community, or focus on questions so basic that they are of little use to anyone that's been doing this for as long as most of us have.

I don't mean to sound condescending, but frankly I find it shocking and frustrating how such a popular and cool art form like filmmaking could have such a severe lack of a good community online.

This is a dynamic community, but you can also get useful information and assistance at DVinfo.net

Agree. I do check some other boards like I mentioned, but it's frustrating sometimes when half of the topics are from people who are just starting out.
DVInfo has been a valuable resource for me when it comes to the Wedding biz. Lots of great info and discussions there.

Gearslutz.com for audio engineering/production/etc. Top notch resource for everything sound (and equally mouth watering displays of equipment ownership!)

Although, THAT is a forum that you will not find quite friendly many times... lurk for a while there and you'll see what I mean  By contrast I find these forums very friendly and professional, and a great help and don't really wander elsewhere about from blogs for reading.

I'm more active on HDDV.net (formely known as hv20.com) since I have more than 10,000+ posts there! It's a nice forum, and there's a lot of nice info, but it's a bit more "entry-level" if you compare to DVXuser.

Each forum has it's own "dynamic" community! ;)

Love the community here. I started visiting in 2009/2010 and I think the fact that the community was well established with so many friendly/helpful/opinionated (in a positive way) people, made it a place I return to often.

I've been into time lapse lately and there are a couple of places I visit for that stuff. I used to visit timescapes.org a lot, but the site is geared heavily towards selling Tom Lowe's Timescapes.

But these days, I really love timelapse.org, which features time lapse from different people each day and has forums with some really helpful people. I love the variety of time lapse they find and share. Today's time lapse is a great example of sharing something really different (http://timelapse.org/2013/03/anna-timelapse/). I think the site is helping to develop the whole time lapse art form, which is a different kind of approach.

For those interested in family and faith based filmmaking, www.FaithFlix.com . I've owned the domain for years, finally figured out what to do with it. It's news magazine style and has articles on actors and crew, tips, technical, movie reviews, flimmaker interviews, and more. Everything is low budget indy related, not Hollywood. Debuts today.
