OT: what happened to DVInfo.net?

Is it just me, or did DVInfo disappear? Some generic "under construction" page displays at the usual address!

Oh no! The Mayan people predicted this :)
It's could be that they are changing servers and the DNS hasn't updated yet or worst case they didn't renew their domain which is a whole different can of worms.

For the record the whois shows they aren't up for renewal until March 2012.

I would assume issues with hosting.

For anyone thinking of taken the domain or camping, it's known that it's general
practice for registrars to hold the domain for well over 30 days giving the
original registrar access to renew within that time. I want to say well over
30...but I don't remember the exact amount of days/months.

I wonder if it has succumbed to hackers. A UK based video forum site, DVDoctor, was attacked and hacked a few weeks ago and has not come back online.

So do I Nicholas, the information and comments on these user forums are both a tremendous resource and an inspiration for many of us who work in isolation from, or limited direct contact with others. The oportunity to contribute to and hear from like minded people throughout the world will be sorly missed if someone is trying to shut these forums down.

I haven't been there in ages but DVinfo was one of the 'big' sites, or at least I thought. Weird.

I know they were attacked at least once in the past (anyone visiting there got a virus - I know, I got one there), and I just read where Chris Hurd said they were having problems with their emails...

Def strange. Hope they sort it out...

This does sound like a DNS problem. If it disappears for all of us, then comes back for some over a period of 12-24 hours, it sounds like the DNS changes are propagating throughout the net. Especially as folks here in the UK can see it, whereas folks in the US or elsewhere are aren't seeing it yet. Should be fixed by tomorrow breakfast time.

UPDATE: 18:00 Spoke too soon, it's gone again.

UPDATE: 20:50 Up again.
