when i attempt to install avid express hd it gives me the message that my os is not supported. Is windows xp 64bit not supported?

Technically only 32-bit XP Pro is supported, but if you check the Avid forums some people have got it to work with other versions of XP. However, I wouldn't bet on 64-bit working at all.

xp 64bit is very dissapointing. I don't notice the performance benefits except for maybe maya because it is one of the few applications that supports it. Other than that its just a pain to find drivers.

The problem is that Microsoft aren't pushing it, so most people don't bother to develop decent drivers or recompile their software to run 64-bit rather than 32-bit... and therefore few people use it because there's little benefit to them right now.

Microsoft should at least have made Vista 64-bit only to encourage everyone to switch. It's not as though anyone is going to be installing Vista on a Pentium-II...
