Orphic Film presents: FADE

sorry, so late in getting to comment. Making a second pass on a lot of things. I think this was among the best acting of the fest. Every action simple, direct and exactly what it should have been in each moment. These are real actors.

I also thought you did an amazing job with the world of the piece, using such simple and real things where it might have been easy to go off with too much SFX. I love the use of the sheets and the lighting of them. It reminded me - don't hate me - of the Buffy dream episode where the first slayer comes to kill them all in their dreams. I love your sense of Theater and showmanship. I love your use of abstract elements to tease the viewer's imagination.

I'm pretty sure I get it, but not going to say, as you seem to like it that people bring their own thing to it.

All of the elements very professional and clean - shooting, editing, sound.

A real delight and a very complete little film.
 
Wow Mark, thanks for those words. I'll share them with the team. Looking to the other films it seems that Fade is a different kind of production, less 'middle of the road and melo-dramatic' and more abstract and appealing to one's imagination.

That's the great thing about DramaFest though. There are many types of films. My film, for instance, is WAY in melodrama and very conventional territory. Norm's film is very realistic. Yours abstract. But I think, to a degree, those things are dressing and style and films of all types can still contain truth.
 
Ofcourse, that's great about festivals - the mixture of all kind of approaches by different filmmakers.
