Hello everyone! I have been coming here for a long time and have enjoyed the information and work people have posted. I have something to share as I just uploaded the trailer for the upcoming short film ORPHANS. It was written and directed by myself, Sebastian J. Howley, in Chicago. It has been a difficult shoot but with only one day left of filming we are finally heading into the home stretch. With a year of work gone into this film so far we are all excited to complete the editing and share the film with everyone. After completing my last feature I wanted to pick a possibly easier project but nothing worth doing is easy right? I decided to tackle ORPHANS which I knew would have a host of complicated problems but would be something, if done correctly, could be a truly meaningful unsual short film. The final running time will be about 15 minutes long and it was shot on a Nikon D7000 with a 50mm and a 35mm lens. The obstacles were solved through hard work and a healthy dose of good luck, whch leads us to right now and watching the trailer.

ORPHANS description:
ORPHANS is an alternative history story that follows a young boy as he fends for himself in the days before a large scale bombing on the city he lives in. He befriends a (steampunk inspired) robot at the factory where they both work. As the bombing approaches they must save themselves as no one is going to help either of them.

I want to tell a story that is emotional, visual and imaginative. I chose a challenging project in order to push myself and my abilities. Adding elements of sci-fi with the character Steampunk robot allows viewers to come to terms with the effects of war without the historical context. This boy represents any child, man or woman that has had their life altered by the violence of war. This is a slice of a bigger story I hope to tell in a feature length film some day.

I greatly appreciate your time in viewing the trailer and any help in sharing the link with others.

Thank you.

-Sebastian
