That was the best film I've ever seen for a timed film festival...

Awesome work... I loved the dialogue and the acting was great. The lighting for the interview parts were very good too. Aweome use of lighting the background (unless it was composited, it sorta looked like it was greenscreened??)

"Gary the Gun" ... classic.

That was really great, I was intrested the whole time. Good pacing and such. Hmm, I'm a little tired. So I haven't got much to say about it, but good stuff.

5/5

that was absolutely terrific! what untilities did you use for the dvx and what was it edited on?

most of it was written and stuck too if i remeber correctly, matt doesnt like to stray away from scripts too much.

I really enjoyed it. I liked the concept and the incorporation of the required elements- seamless.
Dialogue was great. Way to go man.

Man! That was good!
Flying off the cuff to make a short like that is one of the funnest ways for production.
The pressure. The quick wit that's required. Nothing but enjoyable.

My crew is awsome. They are the tightest band of pirates I've ever had the pleasure of sharing a good time with.

Thank you,

Matt

yeah i like the way its not so obvious of what elements were used. you should have seen some of the other picks geez.

Sweet, sweet, sweet. Having judged a contest like this before, I must applaud you on both making a cool 48-hour film and making just a cool film in general. And feel free to share your interview lighting set up. I'd waste 46 hours just trying to get that right. And failing.

For the interview set-up we had on Alfonzo Parmesianni;

1. A 1200par HMI hits the window from outside at about a 45 angle.
2. A Sourse 4 was used to spot the art work.
3. An Omni with a Chiemera for the key light. Up high and pushed in a little to create the hotspots on the forehead to make it look like an overhead.
4. There was also a hair light that hit Alfonzo on the shoulder and back of the head to pull him out of the darkness. I think it was a 650.

After that you just scrim or march the lights around until your light ratios make sence. Of course, there is some flagging and blackwrap to remove unwanted light.

All of this lighting was done by Alton Chewining(DP), Catherine Cravens(Gaffer) and Josh Keeney(Key Grip). Alton is "Master Alton" in these parts. His is the DP for this area and all of us learn and grow from his examples.

Spidey is great too, but he was editing on another 48 hour project at the time. I use Alton when ever I can, however on the Red Neck Samurai stuff, that is all Spidey. He and I have kind of turned that project into our "brain baby".
