GH3 Opus - An Anamorphic Short

I've always known the GH3 packed a great punch in its IQ since I saw how much the latitude in the shadows improved over the GH2. It was my first sign that this little beast mixed with the right glass could produce amazing images and finally, having the time to create something for the art of filmmaking, decided to dive into the world of anamorphic and create something that I hope you all enjoy!

All the technical details are in an article linked on the Vimeo page.

Postproduction was completed withPremiere Pro and graded using
FilmConvert and the standard
colouring tools in Premiere.

Nicely done, sir! You have some truly beautiful compositions in there.

Regarding the photo style, I've seen differing opinions on the saturation settings. Usually it's either -2, or 0. Care to comment on why you settled on the '0' setting?

Thanks Noah! When I first got the camera I did some pretty extensive tests regarding its picture profiles and when I varied the saturation between -5 to +5 and loaded all the clips in the NLE to compare, I found that 0 gave me the best natural saturation. That is to say, for my preference, I'd always have to bump up the saturation if at anything less than 0 to get to something I liked. Plus, I truly believe with this camera it is best to get as much colour information baked in than to leave it to post. Better to have the information there and desaturate if needed than to interpolate some information and re-saturate.

Very nice! I'd be interested in lens details but that isn't important to the watching experience.

Thanks for sharing.

I went to Monaco but Africa was just a location we had in mind that we wanted to mimic here at home (Canada)
