Hi guys!

I need some help to get going with the Optitek adapter on the F5.

We just got two new F5 and and a optitek FZ to EF mount adapter.

The problem is that we cant get the information from the lens up in the monitor and we can´t control the iris.
We have tried it on both cameras and still nothing.

I´ve seen abelcines video on the adapter, and they dont have a 4 pin powercable plugged in, but other videoes do. The powercable didnt come in the box with the adapter.

Do anyone know what to do?

The power cable is the older model. No need for a power cable on the new one. It's an easy process to get the adapter and lens in synch but mine won't respond from time to time. The device is a little wonky.

Does the outfit you purchased the camera package from not offer support to assist you and answer these questions? Did you contact them? Have you been able to figure out your issue?

I had really bad experience with Optitek Support I had contact them severals times regarding issues with this adapter an some lens (for example all the Tamrons that I own) and they just simply avoid to help.

If you are using a Canon branded lens (most like-like will work) and you activated the mount in the camera menus and you still have the problem something may be wrong with your adapter.

OK let me address all posts above here.
I replied to the posters PM and am awaiting his response.
Unfortunately Tamron really screwed up the protocols and until next gen boards are ready from us the 24-70 and the 70-200 Tamrons are DIW.
We spent a lot of time trying to make them work to no avail. There is a real possibility that the iris motors will burn in lenses if we try to control the iris. That's a deal breaker in my book. We will not take that chance for our customers sake.
We have many many hundreds of adapters in the field with great performance reviews. I think our adapter is a big part of the Sony F camera success. Sony thinks so as well.
With that many adapters things may happen.
Please contact us if you have problem with yours and we'll fix it for you. Don't go on the forum and say that you have a bad experience if you have not made us aware of your issue. We will make it "solid" from "wonky" -if that's even adapters fault- believe me - I've had many panic phone calls that required 1 second solution that was explained over and over again by every reseller- improper mounting, faulty lenses- you name it over the years...

As soon as I recieved the adapter I contacted you an explaimed my issue you respond back to me:

"I'll look into it and let you know.Best, Jacek"

I contact you several times after that but I never get any more responses from you, I'm sorry but for me that count as a bad experience. If a product is not 100% compatble with what people expect you should make note of that in the specifications.

It takes time to research. It takes weeks of my time. And you want instant answer. Sorry- not going to happen. These are fairly new lenses- newer than the product. If you feel that not getting an instant answer because it requires and exhausting research is not a good customer service I can't help you...
