Just bought 100a and am new to 24p. Can anyone post what they believe to be optimum scene settings for richest film look? (I know much of this depends on lighting, etc.) Kind of broad question,but... thanks.

You can get a really good results out of the default settings. I find that the film look is something I get more in post through boosting contrast and color correction.

Just start shooting. Pay attention to photography basics and take notes. If you haven't Barry Green's book yet I suggest you RUN and get it.
