Was wondering if anyone knew the optimal MF number for keeping everything in focus while zoomed out (Z00) on the DVX. I think it's around MF94 but if anyone has any other suggestions...thanks.
that would make it very difficult to focus on any subject that is close no?
94 focuses on a distance of more than 160'. wouldnt a focus of maybe 80 feet be sufficiant? or do you want all the background regardless of the depths to be in focus as well?
I'm looking for Citizen Kane deep focus...or at least the DVX's best attempt at all around focus with everything reasonably sharp. I will keep fiddling and thanks for the feedback...
Well, your in luck. Shooting with a 1/3" CCD camera makes it easy to keep things in focus. IF you are going to stay at Z00, simply stop down the camera to around 2.8 or above maybe even to 4.0 to stay on the safe side, and set the focus at about 50 or 60. A this range and F stop, you basically have an infinate focus starting from about 2-3ft in front of you all the way to infinity. There is a Depth of field chart made by Arri that was posted a while ago. If I find the link, I will post it for you.
