Opteka?

So it seems www.opteka.com has some cool dslr accessories at good prices such as the LCD viewfinder, shoulder rig, and their battery grips. Does anyone have experience with any of this equiptment??

I was looking up lenses for my D7000 (which I am now selling for a t2i) and found a pack of macro, wide angle, and fisheye lenses from opteka for relatively cheap. The price made me worry about the quality, and I haven't taken a look at the website but I wouldn't be surprised if the whole site was that way as well. However I haven't done any research, I just remembered the name and wanted to give ya my 2 cents. Hope it helped

I thought so, I was just trying to give some insight on it. I was saying maybe since the lenses were well priced but seemed low quality, what you are interested in buying may be the same way. However again this is all speculation. good luck!

I have used opteka batteries and a battery grip, and they're awesome (and a whole lot cheaper than their canon counterparts)

no idea about the other stuff, though

I guess the viewfinder should be ok, but I'd expect those lenses to be awful, and the shoulder support doesn't look great either (I'd go for the $20 ebay one instead)

please show me this $20 one

Opteka just is a marketing brand like the Vivitar of old. I've also seen the Samyang 14/2.8 and 85/1.4 under the Opteka brand, but it's not on the website. You can probably find the exact same item elsewhere under a different name as well.

I just went onto Amazon and read many reviews about their Fisheye and wide angle lenses, and everyone says that they are great bang for the buck and churn out surprisingly clear shots. Note: these are lens ATTACHMENTS, meaning it just snaps onto your kit lens. as long as its anywhere between 52-58 (if you're getting the fisheye or wide angle, at least) you're golden. I would check out more reviews on amazon, however.

this is the $20 shoulder support I was referring to; I guess it's getting more popular because it's more expensive now than when I bought mine (maybe you can find a better deal by spending a bit more time for searching in ebay)

it's basically plastic, and not perfect by any means, but it works
in the last video here you can see a modded version of this shoulder support being used to shoot an indie film that has grossed nearly $3 million so far (monsters, 2010)

about the opteka one: the guy at cheesycam.com is investigating it, seems to be much better quality, jury still out on ergonomics; he'll post conclusions soon
