Opps.....

I just finished a two camera interview today. We were working with one 100A and one 100B shooting 24P and using Free run time code (time of day) to sync things up later. About halfway through the shoot I noticed one camera (100A) was set to 24P Advance. It had been on standard 24P when everything was set up, so I don't know when the change happened. However, I think it occurred early on.

Any ideas how to deal with this in the edit?

Can I capture it normally, or do I need to do something special?

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

you can capture the 24pa stuff using advanced pulldown removal and capture the 24p stuff at 30fps and remove the pulldown afterwards. then edit at 24p and re-introduce pulldown to the final product if it needs to be at 30fps.

maybe before you go through all that though, you should watch the 24pa footage and see if it looks ok as is. sometimes, leaving the pulldown in the 24pa produces jerky motion but if you don't see it, then just capture both at 30fps and edit at 30fps as well.

Thanks

Thanks

That makes sense. I was hoping it could be that simple.

The footage is all interview, so there is not of fast movement to cause a "jerky" look.

If you're editing in Vegas, you don't need to do anything special -- just drop both of them on the timeline, Vegas deals with pulldown removal automatically.

I think they are editing with Avid Express.

I figured as long as they bring it into the 29.97 time line, everything should work.

The newest versions of Avid Xpress HD can remove pulldown from either 24p or 24pA for editing on a 24p timeline.
