Opinions on stuff to buy

It’s budget planning time around the workplace again and I’m wondering what I should ask for next. Currently using the DVX100a, Arri light kit (2 x 650, 1x 1000), Manfrotto sticks with 501 head, a few other accessories.
Any opinions on what I should put on top of a wish list? Not that I’ll get it all, or any of it depending on what I ask for, but since they’re asking I’m working on a list. Off the top of my head:

Glidecam with Smooth Shooter (or flowcam?) OR a crane. A crane would be great but in my job the vest would probably be used more.

Tape deck. Currently I’m just using the DVX to dump into the PC. I don’t tend to shuttle the tape back and forth, I pull it all into the PC at once and then edit things out. Should I still be worried about wear and tear on the camera heads?

A new computer. Currently on 3GHz with 2 gig ram. It certainly does the job but a dual core machine would save some time.

And probably a small mounted light for walking around doing interview type things. Is a Kamio light good for this or should I look at something else?

I welcome any thoughts on these or other things I should have on my list. Wow, what if they just said ok to it all?? lol, not gonna happen…

Thx!

What type of shooting do you do?

Without knowing anything, I see one major lack. You have no audio gear listed at all.

There are a LOT of gear & wish list threads here, take a look around for some great advice.

I do corporate communications/training and an occasional wedding thrown in on my own time.
I do have an ME66 and a lav mic when needed. I also use a FW410 for voiceover work. Being a former professional musician, I have tons of audio gear at home I can pull from if needed as well.

On another forum someone suggested upgrading my tripod. The reason I was looking at a smooth shooter is I find myself at events where I'm running around getting candid shots, i.e. a recent fundraiser with several hundred people. So, while I may not have the best tripod made, it's pretty good but way too heavy to carry around these kind of events.

thx for the response.

Hmm, Yeah, a Tripod upgrade would be a good idea. You might also want to look into a Monopod for those shoots where you need to move around between shots.
