Opinions needed on this Video

Rebel with a cause
The main purpose of this video is to explain how Isara works, what we've done, and to motivate others to join in. Please watch the video and let me know what you think. The only thing I'm not sure about is the section that mentions web traffic making other sites "rich" and how we're different. Any ideas on how to word it better? Also, do you think adding testimonials from visitors would help. Or is that overkill?

Right-click, save as:
Windows Media - 7mb
Quicktime - 7mb

Any advice would really be appreciated. Thank you.

PK - Amazing work you're doing there. I think the titles are perfect - the "rich" idea is offset by the title on the following page. the message is very clear.

Well done and keep it up.

Much Respect.

Hi.

Looks like a good project!

I think the pacing of the stills is far too rapid. Rather give us some time to consume some of them - then you maybe wouldn't need to re-use any.
With the (relatively) low-rez images, it becomes sort of a nuance not getting time to figure out what's going on. Must say I rather liked the animated images compared to been thrown new (but actually pretty similar) images at me.

Have you checked with Enyas publisher?
Have you cleared the rights for the music?

I'm a bit unsure about the rich bit.
What are you really after? Will I get rich if I make this site my startpage? -;)

But:
GOOD WORK!

just my 0.002 anyway

Heh heh... Pookie got a "type out" from PK. :)

Overall, very nice job.

I agree with Gunleik about the pacing of some of the stills being too fast.

I'm not sure about the opening question, "What if you could change your world?". I realize you're probably just trying to personalize the message, but I interpreted it as being similar to, "You're unable to change your own world, but we can help...". I may be overanalyzing it, but that's how it struck me. I thought it might be better to say "What if you could change the world?". For some reason that sounds better because most people don't see themselves as being able to do much to change the world, but struggle day to day to change their own world.

Hopefully that made sense.

i have to agree, the pacing of the stills is way too fast.
it doesn't suit the music, or the general pace of your graphic section.
and i would be tempted to reshoot the website shot's at the head of the edit,
and use a tripod!!!

but overall, great work

Awesome Video PK. I fell all warm and fuzzy inside. :)

I agree that the pictures maybe do go a little fast, especially the ones that are meant to stand alone. The ones that are part of sets - almost animated - work very well.

Everyone should do two things:
1) Watch this video.
2) While the video is downloading, go to www.isara.com and make it your homepage! Right now. Do it!

Ok, so the quick shots aren't working. Thanks for that input. I'll work on fixing that.

To explain, the quick shots originally came from a different version of the video that used music from the end of Napolean Dynamite, which had a faster rythm. But I wanted to keep them in this version because they show all of the stuff we've done in a short amount of time. We've done a lot of projects our first year and if we show a photo every two seconds then people will only see a fraction of them. I want people to view it and go "Wow! Look at ALL that stuff they did with those clicks!" :) Is there a better way to show a lot of photos in a short amount of time? Maybe multiple photos at once (split-screened or Brady Bunch style)?

gunleik - We always submit our videos to the artist labels and let them know we will remove the music if they don't approve. But, so far, nobody has mind since we're a non-profit that doesn't have any religious or political motives.

Thanks again for everyone's input. I'll fiddle with it some more and upload a newer version.

Finally got to see the video! I really liked it PK! The editing worked with the music and the music selection was right on! I am happy to have been a small part of Isara.com! :)

Looks like you are making a difference.

As far as the shots go I felt like I was about to go into epileptic sezure they were so fast. I felt little connection with any of the kids shown and would recomend you show shots for a lot lot longer to give a person the chance to feel like they get to know and begin to care about who they are seeing. Also it is way to long. I was trying to watch and got bored half way through. If you think you can tell the story of each section in a shorter tighter way it would be much more entertaining. Leave people wanting more shorter is always better then longer

maybe you could half or quarter the speed and use fades or partial fades between them , although I quite liked the "difference" of the picture pace to the music personally. It's a little unusual - which is a nice change from the norm. I felt I picked up enough info on the content of the images to get the gist of what was going on although one thing it does do is remove identification with the people as you have no time to process their faces.

Still, its all subjective isn't it

Slightly off topic - but not really.

Pk as per forum rules I've reduced my (laughably) oversized icon but need a clean Isara picture (I linked to the one on your site but as you can see it's optimised for a white BG - care to link me to a similarly sized link but clean)

Thanks

PK - Most of the photos seemed grouped to a particular event. In other words, multiple photos of the same event doesn't convey the concept of multiple events. They seem repetitive... much like the advice you're receiving. :)

Thanks for all the comments. Rendering a new version as we type.

Changes: Decreased the speed of the photos by 50% and removed all the repeats.

Here it is, BUT since mikko REALLY wants to see it, he'll have to pay-per-view while everyone else can see it for free. :)

Quicktime - 8mb

Some of the photos, in certain areas, might still be too fast but I think it goes with the pace of the music.

Thanks for everyones input.
