OPHEA- Training DVD

Robbie Comeau

Como's back. back again
Hey guys,

Kegan's and I first real big project that we got with the company. (www.waterandoil-productions.com)

Basically, it was a two man shoot, 3 day adventure.

Here's how it went:

Monday- Woke up at 6 in the morning, got picked up by the people running this whole thing.
Drove about an hour, to meet up with another person in charge. Then drove about 30 minutes to pick up Kegan. We then
drove 1-2 hours to the first destination. We get to the school, and set up. It's grade 7+8's. (around 12 years old)
The teacher starts the class. She warms them up, and does some exercises. While this happens, I film close ups on the
Spider brace, and Kegan shoots on the Tripod, getting wide shots and some shots of single kids doing the exercises.
We had a bunch of activities to do, and each took some time. It's now lunch, and we had some pizza. (Everything is covered :))
We then do some more activities and by around 3-4 oclock, we head 4 hours back the other way, to Hamilton.
We get to our destination, Hotel. It's a gorgeous hotel and again, it was covered.
We chill for the night, go out for dinner (covered:)) and then it's bed.

Tuesday- Wake up at 8. Go to a new destination-School. Grades 3+4. :(
Well, we thought it would be total hell, but they were actually really well behaved.
We start some activities, then break for lunch. After this, we had to film 50 10-15 second clips of students exercising in different ways,
while a teach would speak over the mic explaining what was happening. This should have took about an hour, seeing as it was only 10-15
seconds of each student filming. Well, it took about 2-3 hours. It was hell, mainly because we had to keep stopping, and it took a while for
the teacher to show the students what to do next. We get off work at around 4-5. We head back to the hotel, get dinner, and relax for the night.

Wednesday- Start at 10:45. We're running late, and we have till 11:15 to do the first activity, so we had to rush it.
Pizza came, and we chilled till about 12, when the dancing instructor came in.
We did the last activities till about 2-3ish. Basically, the DVD will be for teachers all over Ontario, and they'll look at it, to get some knowledge on
how to train kids, and make daily activities, and exercising fun! It was fairly fun, and a cool learning experience. Got about 10 hours of footage in total,
and now I gotta edit :(

The DVD has to be roughly from 1 hour to 1 hour and 20 minutes. I will give updates on the edit to let you guys know how I'm going...

Thanks for giving the time to read this:)

Anyway, just thought I'd let you guys know what I've been doing the past 3 days.

Well,

Erin, the one who told her company about me, is a girl I've known for years. She's my sisters friend, and she actually attended my sisters wedding, weeks before this business trip.

I've known her for about 10+ years I guess? Just don't see her everyday...

So as soon as they needed this done, she immediately thought of me, gave me a call, and that's when she got in contact with both Kegan and I.

PS- I changed the format of the first post jdajda, makes it a little easier to read. :)

Thanks for reading,

Robbie

Hey that is easier to read. I like reading journal style stuff like this so i just trudged through anyways :)

I asked about how you got it because we have started to realize our only clients all came from relationships like yours. Somebody knew someone and knew we could help. We occasionally do a direct mail campaign when we are bored or cold call some industries similiar to our existing clients, but none of that ever gets anything. Nothing. Our largest and most profitable client came through a printing vendor that had a client that needed to have a bunch of dvd's copied ASAP on a holiday weekend. We had done alot of work with the printer previously and he knew we loved a tight deadline so we copied the discs to be nice and make a new friend. Now they are 50% of my workload. The aforementioned printer also screwed up a big job for this client and now we handle their print work too... Kinda ironic how that one worked out. Anyways just always curious.

Now go edit!
