Open Source, Ultra-Bright LED Lumapad with WiFi & Arduino

This looks like a VERY interesting lighting idea/kit/product. What do you think?
I have no connection with this project, but I think I think I will put some money into the Kickstarter project.

Looks interesting... but 19 V @ 6 A supply?... they do mention can 'run from 12 or 24'... but I digress...

The programability also is interesting, and perhaps even for narrative filmmaking having presetup lighting for the different shots, and only 'flip a switch' to change over would be good. I'm sure this is doable now, but with more expensive lights that consume more power than 114 W. (Their blurb seems to indicate 88W, perhaps that's the 'lighting', whereas mention of their power supply requirements is 114... but in any case about 20% of the 500W for an equivalent 8000 lumen output tungsten light... using 16 lumens/W)

Definitely interesting. But I'll wait until it's available and tested, so no kickstarter for me. Exciting things are happening in LED-land, with many future developments from different sources, I'm sure.

1000W equivalent yet consumes 88 w .??
8000 lumen from 32 leds is possible ( 250 lumen/led ) but 8000 lumen looks more like 8000lm / 1800lumen ( incandescent 100 watt bulb = 1800 lumen) = approx. 440 watt light bulb.
Kind of 560 watts short of 1K.
440 watt equiv.( 8000 lum) consuming 88w ( approx 70 w for the leds and 18w for circuitry/driver ) meaning 8000/70w = 114 lumens per watt leds at full brightness. ???
Those don't look like the Cree's XM-L's at those prices.
Interesting concept though.
