Newegg has an "open box" DVX100B going for $2348. Has anyone bought "open box" DVX from Newegg? And if so, how was your experience? Where you able to get full warranty (presuming the cam wasn't grey market), Barry's book, and the MB software?

I know Newegg are not authorized but have good reputation...this is my second DVX so I'm open to an "open box" option unless of course I get persuaded otherwise:) Should I just bite the bullet and get new?

well Zenishye, i have never bought an open box item from newegg but i contacted (more like instant messaged- cause newegg doesn't seem to have live phone help), a service rep about that particular open box dvx100b. i asked them specifically about whether all factory supplied acces. came with it or not. she told me that she couldn'r guarantee that it would. i then re-asked her cause i couldn't believe for $2400 that it wouldn't come with batt., etc. she said once again that she couldn't "guarantee" that it would come with all or any access. i reckon that my question was misunderstood, so i would just nail the answer to this question down before purchasing, otherwise this seems like a fantastic deal. good luck.

1. newegg isn't an authorized dealer so there isn't a guarantee you will get the book and mb software.

2. i remember someone posting on here about how they returned their dvx to newegg because it wasn't eligible for the book and software. the next day newegg had a link to an open box dvx. so he assumed it was the one he just returned.

3. i got mine new from newegg. mine was valid and i got the book and software. when i sent a message to jan about it she basically said they're not an authorized dealer and some of their cameras haven't been eligible for the book and software. it's hit and miss.

so it's a gamble.

Newegg's stated "Open Box" policy is: Item only is included and do not expect accessories etc. to be included. I think in some cases accessories are included but not always. If the price is right w/o these extras I would personally go for it. Authorized or not, I think NEWEGG ROCKS!
Great Prices, Fast Shipping.

Amen.. newegg is the B&H of computer crap, and I got both my DVX and D200 from them with no hassles.
