OOPS! Wrong focus mode

General question here....I was focusing the lens with some difficulty, and only noticed afterwards that the focus ring was in servo mode. I am quite aware this is something you do not want to do intentionally, but did I risk doing some major damage in this ONE instance? Thanks!

There's nothing wrong with focusing manually when set to auto. Do you mean zoom by any chance, because that can mess things up if you manually zoom while in servo mode?

Thanks for the distinction. No, it was focus. As I recall, my digital SLR states on the lens M and M/A focus. Anyways thaks for the head-up on the zoom issue.

Are you talking about your D-SLR or your DVX. The DVX does not have a servo focus, it is all done internally.

Well I guess I should clear that up, then. Sorry. My SLR combines the manual AND auto in one mode and auto for he other. Really, I don't know if it has a servo. The DVX does not have this sort of labeling, so when I realized my error in focusing in the Auto mode, I freaked out. Horsefilms clearedit up, though
