Only HD lens offers continuous focus for video?

I got a GH1 with a Lumix Vario G 14mm-45mm M 4/3 lens. While it will perform the single focus (depress half way, it locks focus), it doesn't change focus as the subject gets closer to the camera during the shoot.

Is this normal? Or do I have to get the HD lens such as the 14mm-140mm? In which case there is only one available lens?

I'm interested in getting video footage from a moving camera, where the subject changes distance continuously.

Why not focus your camera yourself? Then you can use any lens you like.

says here it should work but not in fhd mode, try another mode.

Never mind, the lens' new firmware update (1.2) fixes it. I now have continuous focus while shooting 720/60p!
