Only can record on card 2

Any guys had a issue of only being able to record on card 2, I'm wondering if any one has experienced this? When I take out card 2 and put a card in slot 1 camera tells me to insert a card in slot 2 then records to that. It will play back what I record on card 2 slot in card 1 slot so I am hoping I have something screwed in my settings rather than a problem with the actual recorder itself any suggestions would be helpful.
it is not the cards or formatting of them I have tried several cards.

What is the camera's 2 slot functionality set to? RELAY? SIMUL? OFF?
 
I think i have found problem media select was on card 2 i switched to card 1 and it records there now.
After checking simultaneous recording where i recorded on both cards, I knew card slot one was recording then i switched to relay recording so pretty sure im good now thanks as always to the group.
