One receiver for 2 lav mics - any ideas?

Am buying a Sennheiser 112 G2 Evolution lav mic soon. But am thinking should buy 2 for interviews etc. Will I need a separate receiver for each mic? I need to stay portable so a rackmount receiver is not useful. Ideally a single receiver to pick up both mics that I can attach to the Pana170 would be great. Any suggestions guys?

(Also I'm unsure if an omni or cardiod pattern would be most suitable - help on this question also gratefully received.)

You will need two receivers.

You can only have one transmitter on any frequency - add a second on the same frequency and they will fight.

This is the law of physics.

So you will have to have two of the small receivers.

Go with the omni if you are just doing normal people talking and possibly moving their heads around. Dont know what your budget is but look into replacing the stock mics with something from Countryman, Sanken, or the upper end of Sennheiser. The stock mics are pretty bad and just have a very muddy sound to me. They do work though, so if you're budget is tight dont think they are going to be unuseable. Just dont expect them to sound great either.

As for mounting two receivers get a cold shoe doubler or one of the brackets from bracket one. Or just clip both to the hand strap.

will do 2 seperate transmitters, 1 receiver.

Im guessing the OP wont go this route.

You have to get a two-channel receiver, which is basically two receivers housed in one box. As Rippie pointed out, Lectro makes one (pricey, but Lectro is worth the investment). On the lower-cost end, Audio Technica makes the 1800-series, which has a dual receiver.

And omni lavs will always be your best bet for mic that are mounted on the talent.

and one that is highly inferior to even the Audio Technica.

To Bowen, go with 2 G2 Tx's and Rx's and you'll be reasonably happy (until you listen to a Lectro set, then you'll never be happy again.) :-)

And yes, change out the stock ME2 or ME4 that comes with it - the Countryman EMW is a pretty good low priced alternative.
