one question about mic

I have my atr 55 mic hooked up to the 100b and it's coming through on both channels except the sound still comes through very low and there is an unbelievable amount of white noise in the headphones. When it's set to normal the white noise is insane as if there is an airplane jet hooked to the inside of thhe microphone and it's less noisy but still ridiculous when the mic is set to tele. Is there anyone with some advice please....

i'm not sure what the problem is, but i have been considering buying the atr55 for some time (it's so cheap!). the question is, what is the connection type? AT only sells this mic with a mini connection, though i've seen other vendors offer to replace it with XLR. Are you using a mini connection adapted to XLR or did you order the atr55 with an XLR attached? The connection could be the problem, you may have your db set too high on the dvx or it could just be that the microphone isn't a very good product.
