One of the best shorts I've seen with the DVX so far

Hey guys. It looks like some Project Greenlight submissions are being shot with the DVX100.

Here's a great short. It's Al Martinez's submission for Project Greenlight 2. Some of the best work with the DVX I've seen. I'm sure it's due to the great lighting job.

Link below is an .asf and requires Windows Media Player:

Here's another submission by Joe Otting, but I'm not able to confirm if it's shot w/ the DVX even though it looks like it. Perhaps a better trained eye can help me out here. Barry? Hudson?

I could swear these are both DVX but not a hundred percent sure. What do you guys think? Thanks for looking.

I don't know about the first one - it looks too... agh I dunno it just doesn't look very good IMO.

yea those def DVX. this sorta tells me that proj GL. doesn't look for talented people, they look for people who would potentially make a good show. these guys would make great movies in the future.

The second one was well done. I agree the sound sucked on the first one. I couldn't even hear some parts.

I thaught they were both really well done. The lighting in bot of them is really well done. The picture looked really good. The sound did kinda suck and i wasnt a fan of the shaky walking shots. If your going to make something you had might as well put some money into making it really good, steady cam and boom op/mixer would have made that show awesome. Great work making the script work for both. Which one was it written for. Did you construct the other around the script??

I didn't make either of those. I just found out about them after watching Project Greenlight 2. All the contestants were instructed to make a movie using the same script. The script was unintelligble by itself, but they turned it into something good. Notice how the dialogue is the same on both.

I think they did a great job. Extemely creative.

anyone has more info about the second one? If it was only dvx or mini35..saw a good color correction etc. but it was hard to tell from the movie the DOF. the quality blew.

Otting's is deffinitly not shot with the dvx, not sure why u would think it was.

Martinez'zzz i dont think was either unless it says somewhere it is. The second half looks like it could be but the first set had to be AT LEAST been a dvx with a mini35 which i dont believe they had in 2002 anyway.

theres no question in my mind that that Otting's was film, 16 or 35mm (probably 16).

if anyone reads differently, please, let me know

The kid who did the best short was Dagan, see if his is on there. Better than either of those for complete package (Ottings look and mood are my taste but there know arguing Dagan's was "better")

Also if u watch Kyle and Efram's, it really was just as good even though it appears it was shot on video and deinterlaced. Plus they chose a comedy script and then it makes sense that judging from the shorts that Kand E would probably be the closer fit.

The guys that they picked for the second Project Greenlight did a really funny short. When I found out that was on the DVD I watched it a couple timesand had a good laugh. The two shorts that are on here are okay. The second one is way better than the first one.

wow, pretty wild...I just realized it was the same script....pretty neat seeing the different perspective from different directors using the same content!

All I can say is Wow!

Wow! those were both incredibly dull.

Decent camerawork & lighting, poor acting, poor sound, poor editing. Just goes to show what a good total package needs, and what both of these films are lacking. It's a chore to watch them if you're viewing them as "films". Otherwise, they both get some technical and artistic points for things they attempted.

Film1: Nice locations.
Film2: Nice locations, better camerawork.

Did either of these guys get on the show?
