Hey Bill - did you do the post on this as well, or just the cinematography?

From a camera point of view - I think it looks really good.
The background singers may have been a bit lost on their shots, but otherwise I like the lighting setup. She (Fantasia) looks great.
Love the little lens flare you get here and there on her backlight - really made her look nice.

The video plays well overall - so my critiques here should be taken with a grain of salt.

I feel that the pacing on the edit (in combination with the camerawork) might be a bit off on this piece. I'm not sure it matches the feel/pace of the song. I'm not certain what the main goal of these AOL sessions pieces are - but it would seem to be that it would be to capture the feel and energy of a live performance. So even though this looked great, I feel that some of that 'live performance' feel may have been lost through the quick cutting/zooming. The edit felt more like a straight music video edit, as opposed to allowing to me to get past the production and enjoy the entertainer (which is what I would expect from a live performance piece).

So, overall it looked great - but I would have liked to see some of the shots last a bit longer, maybe linger on her a bit instead of always zooming or cutting to the next shot.

Just my two cents.
Great work overall - keep em coming.

Appreciate the two cents Luis. My role is strictly DP.
Unfortunately there's no lighting rehearsal so we end up lighting air most of the time.
I could have brought those b/g singers up a tad, I was playing them under key, but I agree.

No problem - like I said, overall it looks great. She looks fantastic (which is obviously the most important thing). I was just being picky on the bg singers. They look fine in the wides, when they are in the bg - it was only when going in on them for mid shots that they seemed a bit dark. Of course the camera op could have opened up a bit on that as well.

Great work.

By the way - I wound up going to your site after seeing this yesterday.
You've got some great work up there.
Slayer?
