One focal length

24mm because with the Nikon D4 I get a nice wide angle (great for steadicam) on the Full Frame mode. And on the 1.5x crop I get a normal-wide view for the medium to close-up shots and then it will also give me a 65mm focal length on the 2.7x crop which is great for add compression or tension into the scene.

A "normal" lens: a 50mm on full frame, or 35mm on APS-C. You can do A LOT of stuff with just that.

Alternatively, a not-too-long portrait lens: 85mm on full frame, 50mm on APS-C. Also very versatile, but you may run into problems when you want a wider shot and the location won't allow you to back up.
