your HVX200 do you plan on using your other cameras?

I was also thinking about the HVX and the DVX working together. HD compared to SD will not look the same. but what about SD from both cameras?

Different tool set for different projects. I will still shoot TV and industrial videos with my DVX. It's just the economics of it. However, when A client wants HD, 16:9 or 4:2:2 out comes the HVX and the price goes up. Plus I will probably end up shooting a few features with it.

I know there is no footage yet on the 200 but in theory shouldnt the SD in the HVX be better than the 100a it cant be worse can it?[font=&quot]

Bilgami, you have a point, but if I were Panasonic, I would make sure that I match or exceed the resolution that the Canon XLII has, making it a sure winner even for those folks who will shot DV SD. Lets hope this is incorporated into the camera.

The HVX supports DVCPro 50, so, yes, it should do SD better than the DVX100a.

Can the DVCPro 50 be put to tape its only P2 correct. I was wondering if the SD on mini dv would be the same or better than the 100a?[font=&quot]

I thought the DVCPro to tape was going to be 25 not 50.

Regardless of SD to tape format, I look forward to lensing a new docu-reality series using the HVX200 as the 16:9 a-camera for beauty-pass and wider establishing shot work and the DVX as a "second-unit" cutaway in squeeze. I don't know without testing, but suspect that 720p will be the format I'd use on the HVX when intercutting with the 480p EDTV DVX.

In my experience, the DVX doesn't hold up as well in wide shots where there is massive detail. On our trek to Belize, this became really noticable on wide shots of the tropical rainforests, where lush green canopy fell apart into an accurately color-rendered but blotchy gaussian-like mess.

Additionally, having two cameras during interviews is really advantageous and I think the DVX will intercut nicely in a 24 frame timeline with the higher-resolution HDTV source material.

For effects work, especially in-camera analog plate photography, I hope to employ the 200 for its better resolving and color sampling along with variable rates. I can hardly wait for this!

The main the holding back SD mini-dv image quality is the fact that it's SD mini-dv. IMHO of course.

Until we see footage the advantages are true 16x9 and variable framerates via P2 to mini-dv.

Well, since I don't usually get rid of my things, I will keep my DVX100AE and get a new HVX.

I will use the DVX for stuff I intend for TV, such as music videos, and stuff. And I will use the HVX to shoot films that I intend for 35mm.

But, since we haven't seen the real HVX yet, we have to wait.

All the best
