On Widescreen 16:9 Television Set

I have created a music video earlier with DVX100A and finished editing.
It was shot in letterbox 16:9, and I didn't touch the top and bottom black bars while editing.
But when I played the video on a Widescreen TV, there were black bars at the top and bottom still, and the image(video) was squeezed.
So I tried cropping the top and bottom in editing program, but it gave me the same result.
Does anyone know how it will play full screen on a widescreen TV set without squeezing any image?

That is probably a setting in the TV. If the TV doesn't recognize your footage as 16:9 it'll treat it as regular 4:3 until you tell it otherwise ...

You not only need to crop the black bars, but you need to DVE the remaining active picture to fit the height of the video signal (720x486). In your editor, the picture will look taller and skinnier. Your TV will squeeze it back down.

You may have a setting on the TV called crop which may do this for you. I know that my HD projector does.
