On set workflow with MacBookPro

I have the MacbookPro with the updated HD monitor(onboard)
I have inquired about on set workflow setups for monitoring, besides renting the Panasoinc HD monitor.

Are there any ideas if I could use my onboard laptop monitor and then hook up a 2nd monitor for the Final Cut Pro timeline?

especially since all I need is 720p anyway?

what are some of other HVX200 users workflow out there for using their cameras with a MacBookPro, and or other monitors (computer and or HDTV sets) on set for focus and basic preview functions....

I understand this is not a COLOR or TIMING stage. But just for on set?

if so how is it done?

thanks

I usually use a laptop PC with Adobe OnLocation. The HD monitor works just fine for composition and focus, although there is a slight lag. PCs still has models with CardBus built in as well so you don't need a DuelAdapter, and you can get one for what you'd pay for a week of a Panasonic Monitor rental.

If you're working in a bigger budget situation or don't want to look cheap to a client, then stick with an HD monitor. But using a laptop offers a lot of performance for the dollar.
