On-screen markers

Does anyone have any good suggestions for making marks on the LCD screen? I'd like to mark off the 16:9 and to split my screen into 3rds for quick visual reference without damaging the LCD.

Animation acetate cell , (such as a ChromaColour), as overlay marked up with a sharpie would probably do the trick.

If you have a plastic cell painters peg bar you could even attach to top of screen and do multiple overlays.

Me, I just build guide layers in software.

Cheers

I created a set of templates which can be printed onto overhead transparencies (laser or inkjet) that has 16x9 and 1/3 markings. It took just a few minutes to do, and you don't have to worry about tape residue sticking to your screen.

PDA protectors work great. Measure the screen and get PDA protectors at local Staples or other store that are close.
Turn on letterbox and use a fine tip sharpie to mark it.

Screen Skins 16x9 overlay. Under 5 bucks for a pack of 2 at EVS, Birns & Sawyer and Abel Cine. Save yourself some time and effort.
DISCLAIMER: I make them as well as use them.

kplo,

Have you considered making a revision that would include the following common film frames:
1:66.1, 1.78:1, 1.85:1, and 2.39:1 ?

Yeah Ken, that would be a great idea!

You can name them:

SSDVX - 1:66

SSDVX - 1.78

SSDVX - 1.85

SSDVX - 2.39

Let me know if that can happen.
