On-Camera Monitors - 1280 x 800 // 16:10?

I see that there are many 1280 x 800 on-camera monitors out there. However this is 16:10 and not 16:9 (HD).

Will the image look skewed because of it?

No. My monitor uses this resolution. Only a very cheap monitor if any would be unable to scale the image to maintain aspect ratio. Good monitors will provide different viewing modes which might include a stretch mode that would act as you describe. Some will allow custom sizing but this is usually provided to match anamorphic ratios and variant DSLR frame sizes. The 16:10 ratio can allow information to be displayed in the 'black bars' when the image is scaled correctly instead of covering the image.
