GH3 Olympus OM-D EM-1 Pro Micro 4/3 Camera Leaked to the Web

Sweet! I'm a big of my GH3 for stills. I'm sold on the format and have been eying the Olympus OM line for a while. This has my interest big time. Love the body style and simple menu of the Olympus cams. I'm in trouble.....

I love my OM-D, but Olympus must to add too many features to this camera to justify the rumored price at $1500, the competition is fierce.

This is a pro grade camera, with two types of AF focusing ( one for m4/3 lenses and another for 4/3 lenses ), it's weather-proof and freeze-proof down to -10 degrees Celsius. I don't expect the $1,500 price will be a problem for professionals or serious amateurs, but I'm very curious to see if they've finally added 24p / 30p / 60p video recording along with 5-axis image stabilization. The stabilization demo at the end of the video is very impressive.

I never thought I'd use the format till I got the GH3 for Slo-mo and now I'm sold on the format too...and the camera for more than slo-mo.
We're going on location tomorrow for the next 5 days doing outdoor action and lifestyle scenes in the mountains and all I'm taking is a GH3, a new Benro tripod/head, an Aviator jib a couple of bounces.
I love the format for shoots like this - everything gets reduced and easily carried.
Also love my new collection Olympus glass -25mm, 45mm, 75mm - as much as my Canon lenses, but so freaking tiny.

I'm not sure video is going to be a big selling point with the new camera. The rep in the video didn't even talk about video only saying it's better. Not very exciting. This could be an issue since video is a big selling point for all DSLR/mirrorless cameras. I like the video I get from my GH3 fine but would love to get even more IQ for stills in the MFT format. Price doesn't scare me but heavy video users will be turned off if it doesn't deliver better than the GH3.

I would be very happy if the video performance matched my GH3, especially if it functions with the 5-axis image stabilization.

The current OM-D EM-5 was updated to support video with 5-axis stabilization, but it's limited to 1080 60i and 720 60p formats.

Now if this new OM-D EM-1 supports 1080 24p/30p, then I would be a very happy camper. ( 1080 60p would be gravy at this point )

Have you seen any videos that use the 5-axis stabilization? It works for a short time and then completely freaks out for a few seconds. Rinse and repeat.

Given that NLE stabilization is a compromise at best even with sophisticated motion algorithms and processing power, I don't see sensor stabilization for video being ready for prime time any time soon.

I like the idea of in camera image stabilization because every lens you use will be rock solid. Thats very helpful since most primes don't have OIS. It's usually only on zooms.
