Olympus 14-35mm

For my personal work, I'd pick up a couple primes. If I "ever" get paid for indoor ENG style work, I'd get Olympus 14-35. Super fast 2.0, silent MF, almost silent zoom, iris control from m43 body. Too slow AF, but who cares. The lens + 43 adapter + 77mm filter + hood is about 2.5 lbs. Prolly lens support is needed for GH2 combo. A shoulder rig with a pair of front handles would do it. But the lens is darn expensive.

Not sure if I agree with your last sentence "But the lens is darn expensive"
You can buy this zoom lens for much less than the price of a single Zeiss CP.2 prime. It can cover the focal lengths of several of them. Not to mention the convinience of not having to change the lens so often.
Also the AF is decent as well as quiet/silent, and the MF by wire is very nice, very workable.

Definitely not fly by wire. Pricewise... it may be good value at $2300, but it's still expensive to non-pro guys.

You are right, the MF is mechanical, not by wire. Hey, one more brownie piont for this magnificent lens...
I have bought the Zuiko 35-100mm recently, and have researched this 14-35mm, may pull the trigger any time...
A factory refurbished copy is around $1,800:

I saw the deal, too. Hope you get a good copy. It will take me at least a year or so to be good enough to get paid for doing this. My first lucky (or unfortunate) customer will give me a reason to buy the lens. Seriously... I can't carry the lens unless I get paid. I can't lie. It will be such a joy to take the great lens and get paid at the same time.

I have the 14-35mm 2.0, it can't really be beat price wise for it's range and speed. I don't mean to piss anyone off, but hear me out. If you charge what your worth then you can afford good gear. Trust me if you are too cheap companies write you off because they think you are not capable.

I have different perspective. Last year this forum was full of non-m43 lenses. C-mount, B4, OM, Pentax, FD, Ai-s, etc. We talk less about them. Nowadays we talk more about m43 and 43 lenses. In theory Nikon FF lenses can be used on Canon bodies, but most people don't do that. I think m43 and 43 lenses work best on m43 bodies. Luckily Olympus has 14-35 and 35-100 2.0. Only 14-35 has mechanical MF. It is expensive, but it has good resale value.

I just bought the Olympus 14-35 f2.0 - after all this very good reviews, I really hope the lens holds up to it.

I have played around with several old manuell fullframe lenses - the heavy built and the manuell fokus are nice, but they are to soft and its horrible to get a wide and fast one.

I hope my 14-35mm arrives here soon - I'm really keen on testing it ;-)

Cheers
