As a footnote to this discussion, and as a former 12-60 user, today I took delivery of a Zuiko 14-54 II and returned the 12-60 to the dealer. I was continually frustrated with the rapidly increasing minimum f/stop as you change to a longer focal length. Likewise as you went longer the lens barrel extended by almost 4", making it impossible to use with a matte box. The 14-40 cost 40% less and will serve my needs until the Birger is available and I can use my Canon optics.
Yes, I wish I could have afforded/justified the Oly 14-35 or Nikon 17-35 but the 14-54 II is a better option for now, with a 2.8-3.5 range, vs, the more expensive 12-60 with it's 2.8-4.0 range.
For prime work I am using Canon FD 24mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.8 and 85mm f/1.8 lenses
