Umm.. read slower.. He did.

..and I just watched it on the news :)

The shows after the olympics are going to be hillarious.

I thought he was funny the first 500 times I saw him doing the same schtick.
I have a good friend who has worked on the Simpson since day one and Conan was a writer, he still doing the same stuff he did then [I didn't like it then in person, I definately like it less now on TV].

But, I got to give him credit, he's found something that works for him and stayed with it. He's having a great career - good for him :)

I just watched curling, OK not too exciting but those women are hot. Have you seen the women of curling calander?

Here's a woman curling.

Ahh - Olympics.

Let the scandals begin - wait, they began even before the flame went up in Turin. So why should I watch again? Because of three events:

Ice Hockey
Cross country skiing
Curling (just kidding)

For you yankees that think baseball is the greatest game on Earth, think again

While curling is boring to watch (as much as baseball is), it is very exciting and physically demanding to play (unlike baseball).

Anyway, being a Czech-Canadian (here is the damned hyphen again!), it is required that I pay at least some attention to the three sports above. Other than that, Olympics is a big yawn.

Have you actually ever played baseball? I've never curled but I'm not saying its not physically demanding.

I'm Asutralian we have our boring games too - Cricket anyone?

I really believe that in this world you just can't win. Remember about 10 years ago with the summer olympics here in the US they did this whole pay per view package where you would get all this coverage and everything else? No one bought it (it was the summer olympics with the Dave vs. Dan decathalon) and the networks involved lost an assload of cash on it. NBC's coverage is decent. They have Costas, who I believe is the best sports man in the business, and they jump from event to event. For the most part you really do get to see most everything, but it is like watching a golf tourney on TV, it hops around a lot (Woods third shot on the second hole, Mickelson's tee on the fifth hole). I haven't been that disappointed with the coverage and watching it last night with my girlfriend and seeing Bode get DQ'd (I just don't like him) and then seeing Lackety win, that was incredible and I felt a sense of national pride. The best thing about the olympics though was something from that same combination event last night. There was this Russian, or Fin, or someone who took the silver. He came across the finish line and just errupted into celebration for medaling. He had the bronze guaranteed and he ended up with the silver (the last guy got DQ'd also). he was so happy and proud to just medal and have a lifetime of training pay off. It's better than seeing people refuse silver medals, here was just a thankful guy. That's what this olympic spirit is supposed to be about.

Cricket is an English game, and don't you forget it!

Its been a while since I've watched but last time I did Australia pretty much dominated England. Anyway, England can keep cricket, I loved Aussie Rules Football - we don't need no stinking pads!

The question I have is that NBC has paid just a tone of cash for rights. They have host broadcasters at all events, everything is covered. Why, oh why is there not live content on during the day on the network, and then you can have your greatest hits on at night. Would they not get better numbers than the local news at noon. Come on now. The content is there. It is not like they are worries about the results being found out. People are not that dense. Does not make sense to me.

As for curling. I curled from a your age into college (yes there was a school team). My dad is an ice maker at a curling rink. The first year it was in the Olympics I had a bunch of friends making jokes about it, by the time I explained the rules, stratagy, and finese of the game, I would say at least 4 out of five were hooked. It is a really great TV sport because of the strategy, eveybody has time to be an armchair quarterback. It is just as physical as baseball (I playerd), an extremely strategic sport, and requires a very soft touch.
And every curling rink I have been to has a bar.
