How is the Olympus 14-35mm f/2.0 performance with autofocus on the GH2?

Looking for something like that either to buy or probably rental to shooting a wedding, so the fast aperture is nice.

Autofocus will be super slow if I remember right, but the 14-35/2.0 and 35-100/2 are pretty amazing lenses. And very sharp wide open.

Bulky, however, and the 35-100 is mechanically noisy.

Ah bit of a fail then, guess it's gotta be one of the panny lenses then, unless the Olympus 12-60 2.0-4.0 is good for video AF.

I would like something with great AF for video on this particular occassion.

You should try it at a camera shop if you can, although I realize that's a bit tough.

I am looking forward to the Panasonic zooms. As much as I like the extra stop and razor sharpness of the Oly Zooms, I imagine the panasonic lenses will be smaller, and OIS sounds pretty cool. Not worried about them being tack sharp wide open, either.

Just hope they're priced right.

Mmmm, whats a good fast focusing lens then for video?

The Oly Primes are supposed to have pretty decent autofocus. You won't find a zoom lens that has all that is ideal for video (Constant Aperture, fast AF, fast). You have to pick which elements are the most important to you for your shooting situation.

Thanks, Toxotis. That was very helpful. I have an Oly 14-50 f2.8 (for 4/3) on the way, and will be happy if its AFS performance is as good as your 14-54's. Hope it's a little quieter, though ;-)

Cheers,

Bill

The GH2's AF is slow, & inaccurate, when used with the 14-35/2.

The 4/3 Panasonic/Leica 14-50mm AF is much better, but not quiet as fast as the best m4/3 lenses.
