OLPF for FS700

I'm experiencing some issues with the FS700 + 7Q when shooting HFR 2k raw. In high contrast situations, especially when I'm slightly under exposed, I am getting horrible purple artifacts where the bright meets the dark.

I sent some raw images to CD but they are basically saying that's the way it is. They have recommended a soft filter but after reading a lot of posts, many people are saying that these don't really work.

So I'm wondering if there is an OLPF for the FS700 like the one that's on the F5/F55? Or if anyone has any good suggestions for eliminating the problem, that would be fantastic!

Cheers, P

There could be many causes of this, it could be a lens combination too. Quite often the magenta is caused by sensor bloom, so overloading pixels of the sensor. Depending on the design of the lens this can be made better or worse. But all cameras suffer this to a certain degree - the F5/F55 had weird highlight artefacts with a grid like effect at some point.

A OLPF probably wouldn't make that much difference.

Controlling exposure might make more of one.

Can you post an image so we can see, there are so many different types of artefact possible

cheers
Paul

In the March (formerly called February) FW update purple edges were a huge issue in REC709. It is improved in the April firmware but still present in REC709 recording. I have almost no problems with sLog2 in 4K2HD and also not in 4K RAW. I don't think it's a problem of a missing OLPF.

To create 2k raw the sensor is line skipped, this means the oplf in the camera is tuned incorrectly.

This is why the 5/55 have a special 'swap in' oplf for optimal performance when used in those modes

It makes perfect sense that the camera would moire in this mode.

As for a solution? I dont know one.

Researched this a while back. I believe the olpf in the fs700 is not removable like it is with the f5/f55

Nope, it's not. I suggested added another OLPF in front - but Cuervo basically said this wouldn't work as they're a bit like polarisers. It sounded like he knew a lot more about the subject than me!

Hey Prendi, can you post some screen grabs of the artifacts you're talking about? I'd like to see what to look for. I will say this. With normal 240fps AVCHD, I've had really terrible, strange colored artifacting as well on high contrast shots. I think it's a 240fps thing. You have to know the limitations and shoot accordingly.
