Older Viewfinders on the F35?

Does anyone know if older Sony viewfinders, like the BVF-V20W would work on the F35? It's a 2" B&W CRT, so if it actually connects and works I would assume one would reasonably be able to focus. Thoughts?

That's a standard definition EVF. You want the HDVF-20a. Check eBay. You can sometimes get them stand alone or on an inexpensive used Sony camera. For focusing they are hard to beat.

I know the HDVF-20/30/35 are the HD ones designed to work with it. But from what I'm seeing in most VF specs, including the ones designed for the new Fs, they're only hitting about 600 TV lines even when they're "HD". My question is will the (much cheaper and still with ~600 TV lines) SD ones actually work on the camera? The Sony DXF-801/701ws are also available at a fairly low cost.

ETA: I believe I just answered the question. I found a pin-out for the 701 and it has power and video in two totally different places from the F35, so nope, that won't work.

regardless of the resolving power of the unit, the SD EVF runs at a far lower (1/4) sync frequency. So, like Mitch says, it unfortunately has nothing to do with pins, the drive electronics are fundamentally incompatible with an HD signal.

Copy. I wasn't sure if there were any kind of processing on the VFs that would allow it to work (or what exactly the camera was sending out). I'll start saving sheckles now.
