Here's an old house I found for sale in my neighborhood, thought I try and sell it with my HVX. Oh yea, it looks like it's haunted.

Old House

wicked soundtrack. The hvx footage looked pretty good too. Are you using a steady cam? I didn't like the fx's though. Way cheaper than the camera. It's like hvx heaven, to after effects hell. Just kidding. What are you processing with anyways?

Yea the effects look pretty cheesy, I'm trying to learn all I can about FCP and mac's at the same time. I used a steadicam rig I built so it's not the greatest but it works pretty decent. Processing with Mac Pro FCP. I forgot I had 1/8th ND filter on when I shot, I wish I would have turned it off I didn't need it, I think that caused some grainyness to the footage.

I agree with dogcat - The footage was nice, but the effects looked a bit '80s video.

I did feel like we were getting closer and closer to the house and revealing more, but then we ended up being further away again, which was a bit frustrating.

I'd certainly buy that house, though. :) Much better than the stucco nightmares around here. Proper character.

Sometimes the nd adds a little something if you can afford it. Ya , learning all that stuff at the same time is alot. Don't even touch the fx in fcp, in's not really made for that. Nice home made steady cam yo!

The steadicam feel was nice. As for the effects......I think just a simple negative flash would have sufficed. But hey, you're just messing around. Thanks for sharing.

nice footage. colors rich... agree w/ others on the effects.

how much does a haunted house like that one go for???... curious 'bout ohio real estate.

cheers

$250,000 (it's a historic house, built in the 1800's) might be part of the underground railroad also.

Dude, that was creepy! I really like the effects, add to the mood/genre.. I was waiting for the scary face to be in one of the windows! GREAT JOB! Perfect use of the steadicam! I felt as if I was floating along with you.. Perfect sound track as well! You made the house a living character.. Keep up the GREAT work!

I liked the feel of it. Effects, could have done without. I agree about getting closer then farther away. Would have liked to have seen the last shot be something like pushing into the front door or through a window. Music pretty cool. Great place to build a scary movie around.

Wow.. want to buy this house just cause it was recorded so great =O
What did you use more then the camera itself? Did you use any filter?

I didn't use any filters, but I did realize I had the gain switch turned all the way up to high..oops! It's too close to the white balance switch.

Wait a minute. So you had the nd filter set to 1/8, and the gain all the way up? Interesting way to get a result, yo. Looking at the footage i don't really see the grain from boosting the gain. Are you sure you are really telling us how you set the hvx up for that shoot. It sounds like your little sister got a hold of it and started playing with all the switches. I'm kidding. It's happened to me quite a few times that i leave settings from prior shoots . But i still don't get the cut the light and boost the grain (gain) technique.

It was an accident, the grain really shows up on the original full rez. I didn't even know I had the gain turned up. note to self: CHECK GAIN! note to self: never USE gain!

I thought was very good. I didn't mind the effects - when added to the sound track it gives it a good thriller/horror feel. It gave me the impression that I was looking through the eyes of a monster/predator.

The shooting also added to the suspence.
