Hi, I'm new to this forum. I've been working in TV and video for about ten years. Most of the shooting I've done has been with Beta SP and SX cameras. I own a JVC GY-DV500, and I've shot with some DV palmcorders too.
This weekend I'm going to be shooting part of a documentary with the DVX-100A. I have a little experience with the camera, but not much. Does any one have some advice or tips for working with it? I learned to tape down the audio dials the last time I worked with it. Are the zebras reliable? I probably won't have an extra monitor with me.
The producer has some footage that was already shot with a 100A (which is why we're renting one for this weekend) that she said was shot in 16x9 and 24P. I hear there are two ways to shoot 16x9 with the camera but I'm not sure how the previous stuff was shot. I do know that in the preview monitor on her FCP-5 set up it looks like normal 4x3, then when she put some thing in the time line, it has to render it, and then it shows up in the time line monitor as 16x9. Does that give any one a hint?
I'm 90% sure it was shot in 29.7 frames per second with the gama set for video rather than film since this is being shot for TV and video distribution. She's a pretty new editor. I don't think she has installed any plug ins. I asked if she installed any thing to convert the 24P in any way and she said no.
Any and all advice is welcome! Thanks.

P.S.
I was reading an older post and as I understand it: If the computer needs to render it, it was definitely shot in 16x9 squeeze mode? Is that right?
