Yes, what capsule - omni, cardioid or hyper? Also, it appears Chinese, but can you confirm whether it is Chinese or Russian made?

Gee... You guys don't think fake items use the real names, logos or typefaces? ;)

Okay, to be clear, I'm not asserting this is fake. But, based solely on the pics provided, it certainly could be. Hence the question.

So, you guys aren't familiar with the whole Chinese MK-012 scene? In a nutshell, there are tons of Chinese made MK-012's out there. They were actually contracted by A.S.M., the British Oktava distributer. They were sold through Guitar Center, Musician's Friend, etc. This was not authorized by Oktava and they are no longer being made or sold new. However, they're all over the place. And certainly the Cryllic lettering on the mics and packaging have nothing to do with authenticity; in fact, all of the Chinese one's had that and were marked A.S.M. Russian MK-012 mics may have A.S.M. on the mic body, but all Chinese one's have it on the mic body. And note that the box is labeled "OkraBa" and the mic "Oktava."

As for appearance, this one looks like both authentic and Chinese ones sold through Guitar Center, Musician's Friend, etc. But, for comparison, here are sample pics of non-A.S.M authentic Russian MK-012 mics. Note the mic bodies are labeled "OkraBa" or Oktava," as well as "Made is Russia Tula."

As for how to identify Russian versus Chinese... I'd refer you to the internet...
