oktava low cut filter

In another forum, someone advised using the low-cut filter to help filter out handling noise on the boom with and Oktava MK-012. It was mentioned that the lows that are removed from the voice track will not adversely effect the track. In fact, it's common to remove the lows for a better mix.

I'm using this for audio for filming a documentary, so there may or may not be music. Is the consensus that low-cut is the way to go for this usage? Also, does anyone know reputable places to get the low-cut filter?

Thanks, Dan

Unless you're recording someone like James Earl Jones, there's very little information under about 100 hz or so so it can be removed without affecting the sound of the track to any signifigant extent.

Yes I would definitely use a low cut. Depending on what your recording into you may not need to buy anything. Many recorders most mixers and even cameras have a low cut built in, so you may just have to turn it on. If you want the one that screws into the Oktava then the SoundRoom is the place to buy it.
