Re: Okay why shouldn't i just get the dvx100a on e

I have read this sort of thread atleast a dozen times on this site. and I understand why it keeps coming up. Anyone who posts a thread of "Where to buy" is obviously new to the site and hasn't bothered to navigate through it and find the search button. So it is only natural to ask the mundane poplular question of where to buy...then after the "grey market" warning advice from over 90% of the memebers of DVXuser, they wonder..hmm..well maybe grey market is not that bad..I will save hundreds over these poor saps who paid top dollar from the authorized dealers. Bottom line..can you save money by purchasing a grey market dvx?..sure you can. Will it work just as good as the dvx's that were bought at retail price..who knows? But if anyone is willing to roll the dice to save $200...$300 or maybe even $400 under the retail price, on a dvx that there is precarious .then just ask yourself this question.....Do you feel lucky punk....do ya?

That's the big question, isn't it? CAN you actually save money from one of those grey marketers? I submit that it's not likely. They may look like they're charging less for the camera, but they will gouge you on shipping, extended warranties, and low-quality accessories. In the end you will almost definitely spend more than you would have through an authorized reseller.

Guys, it's simple: when you deal with liars, cheats, and thieves, they will lie to you, cheat you, and steal from you. So don't deal with liars, cheats and thieves.

Speaking of warranty.....I have a friend that also has a DVX100A...he put sony tapes in the camera from the start..then switched to panny tapes. It doesn't say that your precious dvx will die from the switch in the manual..but it should. He instantly got digital drop out, head clog warning. The video stop playing back in the LCD. So he overnighted his dvx to the authorized repair center in Atlanta...he had the camera back in 3 days. Those guys put brand new heads in the camera for him. Thank goodness he had bought from a legitimate panny authorized dealer and had a panny USA warranty. Funny thing though, I guess there is a plug inside the camera for the EVF...and the repair center forgot to plug it back in. So when he got the camera back, no video in the EVF. So the repair center apologized and paid for the shipping (OVERNIGHT) to and from, and plugged in the EVF for him.
Sounds like a pretty good warrranty to me.

Amen. Check out the shipping charges from some of these guys. Plus the "packages" usually include junk equipment - flimsy tripods, etc.

These people definately fake their feedback, its all part of their scam. I'm sure they actually pay some guy to sit there all day creating fake accounts and typing positive feedback. They're also networked into one group, all using various company names.

Also, you'll notice a lot of the positive feedback is on smaller items under $100. They probably do a great job with these orders, and save their screwing energy for the big items.

=)

I don't buy anything that's so complicated that I can't completely examine it as soon as it comes in the mail. There's no way to completely know if something is seriously wrong with a complex thing like the DVX. I once bought a Nikon 5700 off of Ebay and it was great for months and then one day I noticed a red square in one of my pictures at full size. I went back and looked and every single picture I ever took had a dropped pixel... pissed me off!

Now, I only buy things that are built to take a licking, off Ebay. Basically things that are hardware only... that way I'll know if I've been screwed the moment it arrives. I don't want any camera that's got internal damage that you can't see from the outside. >:(

Re: Okay why shouldn't i just get the dvx100a on e

if they accept actual credit card, go for it with direct credit card payment, not paypal, you can always dispute

back when dvx first came out, picked one up used for just over 2k, it came with case, tons of filters, tons of tapes, quite a few batteries, the unit's great

i, being a businessman, then turned to sell it immediately, listing it BARE, unless someone used buy it now, which nets me a huge profit...

however, i like most people out there used paypal as a form of payment... buyer didn't use buy it now, i still made a huge profit, and got to keep all of the accessories from the cam... when the buyer got my cam, he disputed his charge with paypal, stating i didn't ship the filters, (i have tons of email on this from him)... the listing was clear as day, not misleading at all... Buy it now, YOU GET FILTERS, don't buy it now, YOU DO NOT GET FILTERS...

paypal's own user agreement states they do an INVESTIGATION.... i, having been screwed over by them before, know this not to be true... thankfully, i'd made sure the buyer's payment went to my bank b4 shipping out.... however the rest of my paypal funds were locked, and i was closed out..... i had the emails, the listing, the tracking, everything on earth that a monkey needs to understand the contract was fulfilled, but paypal's investigation said otherwise.... so if you're a scumbag like this buyer, or a paypal supporter... buying off ebay is in your best interest...
3k cam for FREE is what that buyer got..

lalala... but did i sign up for paypal yet again? of course.. because the majority of auction users are ignorant/lazy of using alternative methods of payment..........

in case it's not clear.... paypal sucks.... but they rule unfortunately.....
War ranting
