OK, what am I doing wrong now?

Have a dream scene with neat weird colors. Looks neat but need to change the color of one item. Don't know how to use Affter effect yet so I figured I
'd give it a crack in Vegas. Read help files on making bezier shapes and masks. I think i followed it to the T and did make a bezier shape around item. I now have two tracks of video, one with bezier mask and one with the color I want. I assume the mask will act like a "cookie cutter", so I will see the other track through the bezier mask, right? Help file said to set shape as "positive"

Somehow it is not doing anything. I must have missed a step? I see the shape, but I don't see "through" the shape.

Help anyone?

If you're putting the effect on the masked area, then you want the mask to be positive and in the upper track, yes.

But can you post a screen shot?

Is the item you want to recolour a different colour than anything else on the screen?

If so then you can use the Secondary CC plugin, which will let you pick a colour and colour-correct only that colour.

He is trying to make a mask so the change isn't across the whole frame, but instead within the masked area.

Dang! I just had a sex change LOL...

Well... I will try both, of course the SCC would be a lot easier if it works, but I suspect it will affect other parts of the shot, although what I am trying to change is most GREEN in color, so depending on how sensitive the SCC can be, maybe it will work.

Otherwise, back to the headache of animating a mask... I doubt vegas has mask tracking??

(wishful thinking)

OK so here's the plan:

1- create a mask in upper track video.
2- make mask "positive"
3- use key frames to move and reshape mask to match shape as it moves (unless vegas can track, that is)

Will the lower track now show INSIDE the mask of upper track? Or do I have to apply some effect ( say the cookie cutter) in order to "see through" the mask?

Let me know if I got this right so far...

Note: I'm not home right now so I can't post a screengrab...

Thank you guys!!! I am grateful for your awesome help over the last two years!!!
I will be putting a special thank you in my film to dvxuser.com and all its members.

If the mask is positive, you will see what's inside the mask and nothing else.

If you the mask is negative, you will cut a hole in the frame with it and be able to see through the hole.

If the item to be changed is a different colour from the anything else in the picture, then the Secondary CC plugin built-in mask can be used.

Need to see a screenshot.

Yes, but it's quite likely that it will make small changes to color across the whole image. It's easy enough to mask and better to do so.
