ok to insert/extract SD card while power on?

hi,

i was just wondering if it is ok to insert and extract the SD card into the camera while it is powered on? or is it safer to power off the camera before doing this?

As long as you are not in the middle of accessing (reading/writing information) the card, you should be fine to remove the card.
 
Weird. This very question came up in conversation on two separate occasions in the past 24 hours.
 
JMHO, NEVER remove a memory device from your camera with power on.
Maybe you have a reason you failed to mention, but I can't think of one.
I'm probably just paranoid, but with computerized electronics I always play it safe. Dealing with a mistake is usually much worse than being safe. :)
